PicoSure Skin Revitalization

A laser skin treatment that effectively addresses: tattoo removal, brown spots, sun damage, freckles, pigmented lesions, wrinkles, and acne scars.

What is PicoSure?

Powered by Cynosure, this advanced laser technology goes beyond tattoo removal for remarkable skin rejuvenation. The goal of the PicoSkin treatment is to rebuild a stronger skin texture rather than burning the top layer of the skin off. By using higher amounts of energy in shorter pulses, we can breakdown pigment and scarring with pressure instead of heat, creating the production of collagen and elastin. Blue’s ‘PicoSkin’ service offers us a remarkable ‘lengthening’ of the skin’s elastin fibers, previously only seen with the use of ablative CO2 resurfacing lasers. Working deep under the skin’s surface, PicoSkin creates no visible skin damage except for mild redness, which generally resolves within 2-24 hours.

PicoSure® is the world’s first and only picosecond aesthetic laser platform for multiple aesthetic applications, including tattoo removal, acne scar treatment, pigmented lesions, and wrinkle treatment. This unparalleled breakthrough in laser technology delivers ultra-short pulse bursts of energy to the skin in trillionths of a second to gently target and eliminate pigment without harming the surrounding skin. Improve the look of your skin and achieve a more youthful appearance by removing pigment or treating wrinkles and acne scars faster than ever with PicoSure.

It’s essential to consider your options. Facelifts, fillers, and toxins are associated with significant downtime, risks, and side effects. Patients often consider these treatments a “last resort.” The first step to achieving a youthful appearance or tweaking some trouble spots may be a PicoSure laser treatment. Speak with our office today to see if this treatment suits you!

Melanin gives us our skin color. Pigmented lesions, including sunspots, age spots, and brown patches, are dark in color because the melanin is concentrated in one skin area. Most pigmented lesions come from sun exposure, while some patients are born with them. Hormonal changes can also induce pigment changes in the skin.

Lasers remove a variety of unwanted pigments. Age spots, freckles, and brown patches can all be removed with PicoSure. During a free consultation, your practitioner will assemble a treatment regime to help you achieve pigment-free skin quickly.

Unlike surgery, laser acne scar treatment uses ultra-short pulses of laser light to reach deeply into the skin’s sub-layers, treating the support structure. Then the body’s natural healing process sweeps away older, damaged tissue and rebuilds it with fresh, new collagen and elastin—the crucial building blocks of normal-looking skin. It’s a fast and straightforward procedure that’s easy to tolerate and requires little-to-no downtime.

Laser acne scar treatment can work on many skin types, including very light and darker skin. Contact a provider to find out if you are a good candidate for this treatment.

Pre + Post Care Instructions

No sun exposure, tanning beds and sunless tanning cream for 4 weeks prior to treatment. Sun exposure decreases the effectiveness of the laser treatment and can increase the chance of posttreatment complications. Use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Apply to the treated area every 2 hours when exposed to the sun and it is recommended to make this a part of your skin care routine. Remove all makeup, creams or oils prior to treatment.
Cleanse the treated area at least daily with water and mild soap, and then pat the area dry. Do not rub or scratch the treated area. If crusting/scabbing occurs, do not shave or pick area. Apply Aquaphor ointment (tattoo) or other moisturizer (face) to the area 2-3 times a day. Keep the area moist, and let the crusting/scabbing resolve on its own. Discomfort may be relieved by cold gel packs and/or an over the counter pain reliever, such as acetaminophen. Avoid contact sports or any other activity that could cause injury of the treated area. Avoid swimming, soaking or using hot tubs/whirlpools until the skin heals. Contact physician if there is any indication of infection (redness, tenderness or pus).
